John Fahy MD, MSc


        Dr. Fahy received in his M.D. degree from University College Dublin, Ireland in 1985. After internal medicine training in Dublin, he started a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at UCSF in 1989 and did his research training in Dr Homer Boushey's laboratory. Since joining the faculty at UCSF in 1993 he has built a research program in airway disease that is focused on mechanism-oriented studies of epithelial cell dysfunction in asthma, COPD, and cystic fibrosis. In addition to his research activities (which include direction of the UCSF Airway Clinical Research Center), his clinical activities include seeing patients in the intensive care units at UCSF and in the UCSF Chest Faculty Practice.
